Réalité Masquée / Masked reality
Digital retouching revealed,
finally we all hide ourselves
under a mask.
In Masked Reality, Mark Daovannary diverts the function of photographic retouching. He reveals what is usually hidden in fashion photos: the details of a face or a body that do not meet the current aesthetic codes. The silhouettes represented here become ghostly, almost horrific. Mark thus questions the singularity of individuals. Can we still speak of identity if the particularities and "defects" that make it up are masked?
