Every week,
mother whispers prayers,
the incense accompanies her
and confesses that it is for her children.

Every week, Mark Daovannary's mother lights three incense sticks in her Buddhist altar. As tradition dictates, she accompanies this gesture with prayers for her ancestors... And her children. In this installation, the artist has placed three thousand six hundred incense sticks at the height of Buddhist altars: the equivalent of 25 years of prayers. Twenty-five is his age when he discovers the intricacies of a practice he has observed all his life.
